#maryiblige is facing a $5 million lawsuit filed in New York by her longtime friend and former stylist, Misa Hylton, along with rapper Vado. The suit alleges that Blige, through her company Beautiful Life Productions, sabotaged Vado’s career by withholding his completed album to pressure him into severing ties with Hylton’s management agency, M.I.S.A Management. The plaintiffs claim this interference breached a management agreement entitling M.I.S.A to 20% of Vado’s earnings. They also allege that Blige’s security chief, described as her boyfriend, attempted to have Vado sign a new contract without legal counsel, warning him of lost opportunities if he remained with M.I.S.A . The lawsuit further asserts that Blige excluded M.I.S.A representatives from private events, such as yacht gatherings and hotel meetings, to persuade Vado to abandon his management contract. Despite completing an album in July 2024, Vado’s project was allegedly shelved by Blige, who purportedly stated she would not release it or allow him to tour as long as he stayed with M.I.S.A. The plaintiffs are seeking damages for breach of contract, emotional distress, and interference with business relationships. This legal dispute marks a significant fallout between Blige and Hylton, who have shared a professional relationship spanning decades. As of now, Blige has not publicly responded to the allegations.
